Kerr Kriisa Joins the Wildcats
One thing that has been certain since the arrival of Coach Mark Pope is that the staff works in the silence. In previous administrations most commits are well known at least 3 days in advance before hearing the announcement of their commitment. But Coach Pope has stated that they like to work backgrounds to sure up on the competition.
With that in mind, another surprise has taken place as former Arizona and West Virginia PG Kerr Kriisa has announced that he will be signing with Kentucky. The creation guard spent his first three seasons playing at Arizona he seen an increase in production. Before transferring to WVU, he started 65 out 68 games and played around 30 minutes a game. He shot 34% from 3 his sophomore season and elevated it up to 37% in his junior year, while averaging close to 10ppg in both seasons. In those two full years at Arizona, he aided in their trip to the sweet 16 and 33-4 record in 2022. In 2023 he helped the Arizona Wildcats to a 28-7 record that included an upset loss to Princeton in the first round of the NCAAT.
After the 2023 season Kriisa would transfer to West Virginia. And while the team did not see great success Kriisa seen his best shooting season where he shots 44% from the field and 42% from three, while averaging 11 ppg. Kriisa’s season and career has been filled with some moments that leave much to be desired but also with moments that you can tell he is a good player.
This addition to the Kentucky Wildcats looks like a replacement on the staff missing on Aiden Mahaney (UCONN Commit) and grabbed a guard who can spell at both the PG and Sg position and provides good passing and long-range shot making abilities. It should be noted that Kriisa was also a BYU recruit so Mark Pope is welled informed on what he can bring to the team. In conclusion, the stove is hot for the Cats right now, with both great defense and elite shooting being identified and added to this newly constructed roster. And there may just be more to follow.
